SUMMARY:THE BLACKHEART ORCHESTRA plus support FOXPALMER
DESCRIPTION:Fitting perfectly with our reputation for presenting the very best in live music\, we’re stepping into a different field from our more regular ‘jazz’ genre\, to bring you The Blackheart Orchestra – officially known as the smallest orchestra in the world! \nThis gig will take place at The Grasshopper\, 139 – 141 Bournemouth Rd\, Poole BH14 9HT. Please note the 7:30pm start time.\n \nTicket link below \nTwo people playing 13 instruments between them\, Chrissy Mostyn and Rick Pilkington draw on their backgrounds in rock\, folk\, electronica and classical music to create a unique sound frequently compared to early Pink Floyd\, Portishead and Kate Bush as well as contemporary composers such as Steve Reich and Philip Glass. \nDescribed as an ”Avant garde musical utopia”\, they perform in their ‘musical space station’ of instruments including guitar\, bass\, percussion\, mandola\, piano\, organ\, omnichord and vintage synthesisers. After over 1000 concerts and now 7 albums\, they’ve played everywhere from Southampton to Sydney including London’s Palladium and Royal Albert Hall while piling up achievements from a nomination for the Progressive Music Limelight Award\, Best British Duo\, #4 Best New British Band\, and #10 Most Important Rock Event of 2020. \nMore recently their universally applauded 2022 album Hotel Utopia went straight into the UK Rock Chart at #13\, single If You Tolerate This made #22 in the iTunes chart and Chrissy Mostyn was voted #5 World Female Vocalist in Prog Magazine’s Readers’ Poll. \n“Epic” – Uncut \n“Ethereal” – Sunday Express \n“A life-enhancing listening experience” – Louder Than War \n“Reaches areas of your head and heart you never knew existed” – Metal Planet Music \nIf any further recommendations are necessary\, both SoundCellar’s John and the more recently ‘converted’ Chris\, believe it’s time word got out in this part of the country about The Blackheart Orchestra. Their SoundCellar gig scheduled in late 2022\, fell foul of an unfortunate injury for one of the band\, but all is now well\, so we are extremely pleased to present them live at The Grasshopper\, as part of their 2023 UK tour to promote the new album. \nLatest addition: Support act Foxpalmer has been announced for the tour and will open the evening at 7:30pm prompt \nFoxpalmer aka Fern McNulty is a London-based singer-songwriter. She combines the genres of acoustic\, rock and folk to create deep\, tearful and soulful music. Her unique sound\, original music and captivating live shows have won her considerable airplay and performances at a number of UK festivals including Godiva and Celtic Connections.\n“A strong connection can be made between Foxpalmer and Fleetwood Mac” – The Voice Magazine\n“A fantastic voice and acoustic playing reminiscent of Tracey Chapman” – Fireworks Magazine \nApproximate show timings:\nDoors open: 7pm\nFoxpalmer: 7:30pm – 8pm\ninterval: 8pm – 8:30pm\nThe Blackheart Orchestra: 8:30pm – 9:50pm \nEntry is £15 + booking fee in advance through the below link\, or £18 on the door (cash or card). \nAll advance ticket buyers will receive an exclusive link to a video of the evening’s performance\, available for one month \nShare this event
