DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to host this wonderful trio plus special guest\, involving some of the finest musicians performing in the UK today\, when we present Monkin’ Around feat. Dave O’ Higgins \nThis gig will take place at The Grasshopper\,\n139 – 141 Bournemouth Rd\, Poole BH14 9HT. \nPlease note: If parking in either of the car parks at The Grasshopper\, you must register your vehicle on one of the dedicated terminals at the bar or in the function room. \nTicket link below \nOscar Wilde once said\, “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.”  Jazz musicians have always known this and have always done their best to stand on the shoulders of giants. While these three musicians are in no way mediocre\, they will happily afford every flattery to the great Thelonious Monk. \nHere are three friends getting together to pay homage to one of the greatest Jazz composers of the 20th century\, Thelonious Monk. \nWith a wealth of experience and artistry at their fingertips SoundCellar returnees Dave O’Higgins and Billy Pod\, together with Luke Fowler have set out to pay their respects to the works of Thelonious Monk and to use his compositions to express themselves and display their veracious talents. \nOn this special occasion they will be welcoming as a special guest\, international guitar star and firm SoundCellar favourite Rob Luft\, for a unique performance at The Grasshopper. He has performed with numerous jazz and pop legends\, and his original music combines inventive melodies\, imaginative rhythms\, and rich harmonies. \nThis gig will take place in The Studio at The Mowlem Theatre\,\nShore Road\, Swanage\, BH19 1DD. \nTicket link below \nJ Fashole-Luke is a multi instrumentalist who is in high demand particularly for live piano performances. He has performed all over Europe at Jazz Festivals (including Montreaux\, Vienne\, North Sea\, Swanage and Vienna Jazz Festivals and in UK at Glastonbury\, Bestival\, Boomtown\, Shambala\, Hyde Park and Isle Of Wight Festivals)\, as well as many other public performances and private engagements. \nDuring this time Jonathan has performed with top British jazz artists including Gary Crosby\, Jay Phelps\, Tony Kofi and has even jammed with American legends Marcus Miller\, Isaiah Sharkey and Roy Hargrove. Jonathan Has also appeared at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and performed live on BBC2s Later With Jools Holland. More recently he has been worked with some top vocalists including chart topping UK singer Alexandra Burke\, RnB titan Usher and living legend Dolly Parton. \nJ Fashole-Luke’s original music draws from a wide range of influences across many genres and this show provides a heady blend of striking melodies\, unusual time signatures\, imaginative harmonies and driving rhythms.
