While these three musicians are in no way mediocre\, they will happily afford every flattery to the great Thelonious Monk. \nHere are three friends getting together to pay homage to one of the greatest Jazz composers of the 20th century\, Thelonious Monk. \nWith a wealth of experience and artistry at their fingertips SoundCellar returnees Dave O’Higgins and Billy Pod\, together with Luke Fowler have set out to pay their respects to the works of Thelonious Monk and to use his compositions to express themselves and display their veracious talents. \nOn this special occasion they will be welcoming as a special guest\, international guitar star and firm SoundCellar favourite Rob Luft\, for a unique performance at The Grasshopper. DESCRIPTION:One of SoundCellar’s favourite gigs in 2024 involved Maria Chiara Argirò on keys. We are therefore very much looking forward to welcoming her back to The Grasshopper\, this time in the international Moonfish project. \nClick here for tickets to attend the physical gig.\nLivestream Ticket link below \nMOONFISH\, the collaborative project of Maria Chiara Argirò and Riccardo Chiaberta\, merges electronic beats and alternative rock with jazz improvisation. Their setup blends keyboards and synths with drums\, bass synth\, and electronics. Both musicians are prominent figures in London’s jazz and electronic music scenes\, having worked with artists such as Rosie Turton\, Liran Donin\, Jamie Leeming\, Dugong\, Bruno Heinen\, and These New Puritans. \nFor this special occasion\, Moonfish will feature another SoundCellar favourite\, the stellar saxophonist Alex Hitchcock\, expanding the duo’s interplay and sonic palette into an amazing trio. \nDrawing on influences such as Aaron Parks (an undoubted SoundCellar ‘legend’)\, Kneebody and Bonobo\, their music stands out for its balance between earthy grooves and dreamy\, ethereal melodies. DESCRIPTION:J Fashole-Luke brings his piano led trio the the Studio at the Mowlem. He has performed with numerous jazz and pop legends\, and his original music combines inventive melodies\, imaginative rhythms\, and rich harmonies.\n \nClick here for tickets to attend the physical gig.\nLivestream Ticket link below \nJ Fashole-Luke is a multi instrumentalist who is in high demand particularly for live piano performances. He has performed all over Europe at Jazz Festivals (including Montreaux\, Vienne\, North Sea\, Swanage and Vienna Jazz Festivals and in UK at Glastonbury\, Bestival\, Boomtown\, Shambala\, Hyde Park and Isle Of Wight Festivals)\, as well as many other public performances and private engagements. \nDuring this time Jonathan has performed with top British jazz artists including Gary Crosby\, Jay Phelps\, Tony Kofi and has even jammed with American legends Marcus Miller\, Isaiah Sharkey and Roy Hargrove. Jonathan Has also appeared at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and performed live on BBC2s Later With Jools Holland. More recently he has been worked with some top vocalists including chart topping UK singer Alexandra Burke\, RnB titan Usher and living legend Dolly Parton. \nJ Fashole-Luke’s original music draws from a wide range of influences across many genres and this show provides a heady blend of striking melodies\, unusual time signatures\, imaginative harmonies and driving rhythms.
