DESCRIPTION:SoundCellar and Tomorrow’s Warriors are delighted to present another up and coming brilliant young band\, SULA here in Poole. \nClick here for tickets to attend the physical gig.\nLivestream Ticket link below \nSula is a London based trio featuring Miranda Radford (drums)\, Aleks Dimitrova (bass) and Kezia Abuoma (piano)\, all of whom are currently studying jazz at Trinity Laban and being mentored by Tomorrow’s Warriors. \nUPDATE: Due to her finals exam date being moved to 14th\, Aleks is now unable to make the gig (we wish her well in the exam!)\, but she is ably replaced for this performance by another excellent young bassist Kobe Heath Ngugi. \nOne of the SoundCellar team was instantly captivated by the trio’s musical prowess\, when they opened up the Saturday programme on the Big Top stage at the We Out Here festival in August 2025. \nAlready attracting a lot of attention on the London scene\, these exciting young musicians take inspiration from Kris Davis\, Wayne Shorter\, and Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts\, coming together to perform original compositions and music inspired by the sounds of modern jazz. \nAll three of the trio are also key members of the eight-piece ensemble Ankora\, currently making significant waves on the contemporary music circuit. \nWe are pleased to be able to provide our SoundCellar audience with the opportunity to experience this great trio early on in their undoubted progress towards the top. \nABOUT TOMORROW’S WARRIORS\nIf you know your UK jazz\, then you probably already know Tomorrow’s Warriors. DESCRIPTION:London-based guitarist and composer Ant Law\, described by Jazzwise as “scarily proficient\,” joins pianist and composer John Law (“one of the UK’s most imaginative jazz pianists” – International Piano Magazine) to present The Laws of (E)Motion. \nClick here for tickets to attend the physical gig.\nLivestream Ticket link below \nPerforming a new suite of pieces by John Law\, exploring interweaving lines\, pulsing rhythms and subtle harmonies\, plus other original music by both of them\, the duo creates chamber music both intricate and simple\, exploring textures\, colour\, and space and with plenty of rhythmic energy! A study of motion/emotion within the world of groove and pulse. And all within the dialectic of composed versus improvised spontaneity.  \nJohn Law\, a prize-winning classical prodigy on piano\, turned away from classical piano studies to pursue jazz and improvised music when he was 23 and has been involved in\, and acclaimed for\, a wide variety of contemporary jazz and classical projects: from solo piano concerts and albums\, through trio and quartet tours and recordings\, right through to large scale works for his semi-classical ensemble Cornucopia. \nHe has played at over fifty festivals worldwide including North Sea Jazz Festival (Rotterdam)\, Delhi International Jazz Festival and London Jazz Festival at the Queen Elizabeth Hall\, and in clubs and concert halls all over the UK\, mainland Europe\, North America and beyond\, working with musicians as diverse as Gwilym Simcock\, Andy Sheppard\, Jason Rebello\, Tim Garland and Evan Parker. He has recorded over forty albums. John’s main projects currently are his acclaimed quartet Congregation\, featuring Mercury Prize nominee James Mainwaring and playing John’s original music\, bringing together acoustic and electronic music\, his all-acoustic quartet Re-Creations\, featuring Parliamentary Jazz Award winner Sam Crockatt\, playing versions of tunes from jazz/pop/classical and Renaissance\, an ambient\, electronic keyboards project with saxophonist Jon Lloyd and visual artist Patrick Dunn\, playing improvised music over samples created out of sacred vocal music from the 15th and 16th centuries. \nAnt Law is a highly regarded British jazz guitarist\, composer and bandleader known for his inventive and forward-thinking approach to contemporary jazz. Described by The Guardian as “a game changer” and “an innovator”\, Law studied physics at Edinburgh University and spent time at Berklee College of Music before settling in London and establishing himself on the international jazz scene. He has released several critically acclaimed albums since his 2013 debut Entanglement\, blending complex harmonies\, rhythmic creativity and expressive improvisation. Law leads his own ensembles\, including his long-running quintet and collaborative projects such as the ongoing Same Moon in the Same World with saxophonist Alex Hitchcock\, and co-leads the genre-bending Trio HLK. DESCRIPTION:SoundCellar and Tomorrow’s Warriors collaborate once again to present the outstanding Christ-Stéphane Boizi Quintet \nClick here for tickets to attend the physical gig.\n \nTrombonist\, composer\, bandleader\, and a Tomorrow’s Warriors Emerging Artist\, Christ-Stéphane Boizi is already making his mark on the London jazz scene\, but his reputation is set to soar with the news that he has signed to Mark Kavuma’s Banger Factory Records label\, with his debut LP As The Spirit Leads scheduled for release later in the year.   \nBoizi’s sound is steeped in the hard bop tradition – carrying influences of the legacy of by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers\, Horace Silver\, and Jackie McLean. DESCRIPTION:Smiodair is an international quartet performing original music that draws on a body of work spanning jazz\, improvised music and West African rhythm traditions. The music weaves effortlessly between memorable themes and spontaneous interplay\, with thunderous grooves colliding with dreamlike sonic landscapes. Drummer Dave Smith and saxophonist Robin Fincker first played together at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama\, going on to co-found the Loop Collective in London in 2005\, a venue\, festival and record label that became a hub for the UK and European creative music scene. Their long creative partnership continued through Outhouse\, the Ruhabi project and Splice\, accumulating a body of work that spans jazz\, improvised music and West African rhythm traditions. \nBassist Simon Jermyn came into the fold through a collaboration between Dublin’s Bottlenote Collective and the Loop Collective in 2006\, before a decade in New York and a move to Berlin that took his playing to new places. \nThe word Smiodair\, from the Irish for fragments or small broken pieces\, captures something true about three musicians whose paths have diverged and reconnected across London\, Paris\, Dublin\, New York and Berlin. \nFor their UK tour in November 2026\, the trio expands to a quartet with the addition of trumpeter Laura Jurd\, one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary British jazz. The new line-up deepens the band’s sonic palette while staying true to the collective\, compositional spirit at its heart. \nPlaying original music composed by all four members\, the quartet constantly weaves between composition and improvisation\, thunderous grooves colliding with dreamlike sonic landscapes. Without a harmony instrument\, the music is raw and direct\, rich in melody and rhythm. \nDebut album in development.
