DESCRIPTION:Bassist/composer/sonic adventurer Al Swainger returns to SoundCellar with his band to promote his latest release ‘Hearts Full of Grace’. Al has worked with Mike Outram\, Ant Law\, Alan Barnes\, Craig Milverton and many others. \nThis gig will take place at The Grasshopper\,\n139 – 141 Bournemouth Rd\, Poole BH14 9HT. \nPlease note: If parking in either of the car parks at The Grasshopper\, you must register your vehicle on one of the dedicated terminals at the bar or in the function room. \nTicket link below \nCommitted to a spirit of sonic adventure\, Al Swainger has been focused on creating collaborations through his project Pointless Beauty since 2014 and has released two quintet albums\, three solo albums and a host of collaborative and solo singles so far. Blending influences from ambient\, latin\, rock\, pop and electronica with improvised music his use of effects pedals and computer manipulation alongside acoustic instruments provide an extensive and original tonal palette with which to sculpt his music. Described as ‘Cinematic Fusion for the Emotionally Curious’ Al’s goal is to gently restore our mental health and emotional independence through Pointless Beauty. DESCRIPTION:Pianist John Law returns to SoundCellar with his latest project\, FUJAZZ. Combining acoustic and electric sounds\, with the emphasis on funky rhythms and grooves! This new trio will perform a set of new music by John that includes ambient samples and effects in slow\, atmospheric soundscapes\, alongside medium and up tempo kicking groove pieces. \nThis gig will take place at The Grasshopper\,\n139 – 141 Bournemouth Rd\, Poole BH14 9HT. \nPlease note: If parking in either of the car parks at The Grasshopper\, you must register your vehicle on one of the dedicated terminals at the bar or in the function room. \nTicket link below \nJohn Law\, a prize-winning classical prodigy on piano\, turned away from classical piano studies to pursue jazz and improvised music when he was 23 and has been involved in\, and acclaimed for\, a wide variety of contemporary jazz and classical projects: from solo piano concerts and albums\, through trio and quartet tours and recordings\, right through to large scale works for his semi-classical ensemble Cornucopia. \nHe has played at over fifty festivals worldwide including North Sea Jazz Festival (Rotterdam)\, Delhi International Jazz Festival and London Jazz Festival at the Queen Elizabeth Hall\, and in clubs and concert halls all over the UK\, mainland Europe\, North America and beyond\, working with musicians as diverse as Gwilym Simcock\, Andy Sheppard\, Jason Rebello\, Tim Garland and Evan Parker. He has recorded over forty albums.
