The Dorset Youth Jazz Orchestra return to SoundCellar with a very special guest, the multi-award-winning young saxophonist and composer, Emma Rawicz.

Emma Rawicz is a multi-award winning young saxophonist and composer, already making waves on the UK music scene and beyond. She has been described as “An astonishing new talent” (Jamie Cullum – BBC Radio 2), ‘a force to be reckoned with‘ (Jazzwise) and ‘a fast-rising star‘ (London Jazz News). At the age of 21 she has already recorded and released an eagerly awaited debut album ‘Incantation’ featuring Ant Law, made up entirely of her original compositions. Emma’s second album ‘Chroma’ recorded in summer 2022, featuring an all-star band of Ivo Neame, Ant Law, Conor Chaplin and Asaf Sirkis, was released in August 2023.

Emma is a recipient of the 2021 Drake Yolanda Award and winner of ‘Best Newcomer’ at the 2022 Parliamentary Jazz Awards, has a Jazz FM award to her name, as well as being a finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician competition.
Dorset Youth Jazz Orchestra (DYJO) is a youth jazz orchestra led by renowned local jazz musician Terry Quinney. The group has enjoyed a busy gigging calendar with many performances at local music festivals and events. DYJO is made up of the big band instrument mix including: trumpet, trombone, saxophone, electric guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, drum kit, double bass and voice.

15% pre-show food discount at The Grasshopper. Our regular host The Grasshopper, is kindly offering a 15% discount on food from their restaurant prior to every SoundCellar gig! Just show your ticket for that evening’s performance (the ticket QR code on your phone, or a printout). A table must be booked here or tel: 01202 741463 and food orders placed at least 60 minutes prior to the start time of the gig (eg by 7pm for a 8pm start).
(2) For young people: (i) U18s – FREE entry when accompanied by an adult; (ii) Age 18 to 25 – entry £10 (with NUS / TOTEM card). Simply select the relevant ticket option when booking. The offers are available for over 90% of our gigs, but subject to seat availability, so for some gigs, it’s best to book early to avoid disappointment.
Parking is free at The Grasshopper but you must register your vehicle at the bar.
