Europa String Choir last performed at SoundCellar way back in 2010 (and again in 2020 via a livestream) so we are delighted to welcome them to The Grasshopper. The core duo of Cathy Stevens (Violectra) and Udo Dzierzanowski (Guitar) return with original trio member Alessandro Bruno (Guitar) for an evening of sonic beauty.
This gig will take place at The Grasshopper,
139 – 141 Bournemouth Rd, Poole BH14 9HT.

Europa String Choir first formed as a trio in the summer of 1993, while rehearsing and performing in Rome, Italy and became a quartet a few years later. ESC’s mostly self-written, all instrumental music ranges from intricate and touching to strident and rocking, while always aware that silence is at its core.
Having worked mostly as duo between 2001 and 2013 (in which year Udo and Cathy moved to Germany for family reasons), a series of post-pandemic performances – one particularly enjoyable online appearance at SoundCellar in July 2020 – saw the ESC return to active service once more, first as a duo, then again as a trio.
The ESC is celebrating its 30th anniversary with various projects, including short bursts of touring, video-at-a-distance, in-person meetings, online posts of current live recordings, Guitar Craft/Guitar Circle-related projects and the writing of new material. In addition their very first duo album, featuring a couple of special guests, is now in its final production stages and will be released soon.
