NIGEL PRICE and NEIL BURNS at The Mowlem

Award-winning jazz guitarist NIGEL PRICE, whose credits include Van Morrison and Alan Barnes, teams up with fellow guitarist NEIL BURNS. This dynamic duo performs bebop, timeless standards, and infectious Latin grooves.

Nigel Price is one of the UK’s most respected and hard-working jazz guitarists, celebrated for his fluent bebop lines, deep blues sensibility and masterful chording. Over a career spanning more than 25 years, he has become a central figure on the British jazz scene, regularly appearing at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club with over 600 performances to his name. Starting his professional journey in his early 20s, Price toured Europe with reggae and funk bands before focusing on jazz.

He has played on more than 60 albums, including several as a leader, and spent a decade with acid jazz outfit The Filthy Six. He also spent three years with the James Taylor Quartet, contributing to five albums, and has performed with legendary producer and artist David Axelrod. Price has received numerous accolades, including a Parliamentary Jazz Award and a British Jazz Award for Best Guitarist. In recent years he has organised extensive UK tours and founded the charity Grassroots Jazz to support live jazz venues.

Scottish guitarist Neil Burns has been immersed in the South West jazz scene for many years. He has performed throughout Europe and is a regular collaborator with leading trumpeter Steve Waterman, guitar legend Jim Mullen and vibraphonist Roger Beaujolais. He has also worked with artists including Jacqui Dankworth, Zoe Rahman, Simon Spillett, Dave Newton, Mark Bassey, Bobby Wellins, Greg Abate and The Haggis Horns, to name just a few. A highly melodic guitarist, Burns is deeply steeped in the jazz guitar tradition.

Just show your ticket for that evening’s performance (the ticket QR code on your phone, or a printout). (2) For young people: (i) U18s – FREE entry when accompanied by an adult; (ii) Age 18 to 25 – entry £10 (with NUS / TOTUM card). Simply select the relevant ticket option when booking. Parking is free at The Grasshopper but you must register your vehicle at the bar.
