A native Italian from Umbria, Marco Marconi initially studied classical piano before moving on to study Jazz at the Music Conservatory of Perugia. After establishing himself as one of Italy’s leading jazz pianists, his subsequent highly successful appearances at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival in 2009 and the Lancaster Music Festival in 2011 prompted his decision to move to the UK permanently in 2012. Working primarily with his own trio, Marco was signed to the iconic UK label 33Jazz, which released his first two albums “Nordik” (2016) and its follow up “Trialogue” (2018), both to critical acclaim. For his last record ‘New Roads’ Marco invited one of Italy’s best-known saxophonists the multi-Award winning Max Ionata (Robin Eubanks, Steve Grossman, Mike Stern, Bob Mintzer, Mario Biondi…) to collaborate with him. In Marco’s words this resulted in “a big injection of swing” into both the album’s original compositions as well as the standards and popular songs rearranged in a jazz style which also feature on the CD. Successfully combining Marco’s classical background, jazz sensibilities and truly impressive technique, this may be his most exciting album yet.
Tom Farmer is a busy member of the British music scene, primarily with award winning quartet, Empirical, but also in many other projects. Graduating from Guildhall, Tom joined Empirical in 2007, touring intensively and winning many awards including Best Ensemble Parliamentary Jazz Awards 2016. Away from Empirical, Tom has led masterclasses and seminars at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Leeds College of Music, RWCD and is an occasional teacher for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He has performed with many of today’s British jazz musicians and is currently touring Anoushka Shankar, Joe Stilgoe, Ivo Neame and many others.
After collaborating with many musicians on the Italian jazz scene and after years of experience as a sideman, Emiliano Caroselli moved to London in 2012. He played with several bands in various styles of music. His sensitive passionate approach to the drums soon made him an important figure on the London jazz scene. His receptiveness to all styles of music, combined with a deep knowledge of the roots of jazz, the richness of his dynamics and his attention to interplay with other musicians make him one of the most in-demand drummers and percussionists in London today.
